Who we are ?

Direct DrIve Systems

DDIS is an electrical engineering company founded in May 2008 by Jean-Marc Canini, electromechanical engineer, having spent over 20 years in the development of electrical machines.

The objective of the company is to develop a new architecture of electric machine (motor or generator) more compact and lighter than conventional technologies.

The DDIS company enjoys the label of Young Innovative Company (JEI) and won in June 2008 the prize Ministry of Research JEI 2008.

DDIS also received the support of OSEO, of Conseil Régional Nord-Pas-de-Calais, of FEDER, of CCI Valenciennes and Reseau Entreprendre Hainaut. DDIS is also a member of SER (French Renewable Energy association) and of EWEA (European Wind Energy Association).

The primary target of DDIS is the wind energy sector, a rapidly growing technology in which DDIS can bring real competitive advantages: no gearbox, lower total head mass, high grid compatibility.

Other potential markets are identified such as marine propulsion (surface ship, submarine), hydro-electricity generation, or public transport (motor-wheel), sectors where compactness, reliability and performance are important assets.

DDIS relies on the expertise and the know-how of a team of engineers confirmed in the field of electrical and mechanical engineering. DDIS is surrounded by a network of SMEs specialized in the manufacture of various components.

DDIS has a twin activity :

  • Engineering for new lines of wind energy products and keeping records of certification of wind turbines
  • Central purchasing and supplier qualification
  • Maintenance Level 2
  • Management of Patent Portfolio DDIS
  • New markets using DDIS technology

Assembly activity, of limited capacity

  • assembly of the first nacelles equipped for new ranges of wind energy converters, concept -*validation and manufacturing process in close relation with the Technocentre
  • Assembly of a limited amount of nacelles on behalf of its subsidiaries
  • Training future licencees DDIS
  • Assembly of new products
